We are an oriental and fine rug cleaning company located in Kansas City, but provide rug cleaning for many areas outside the KC area. Rugs are cleaned at our facility located in Olathe, Kansas. We provide pick-up and delivery to Topeka and Lawrence for a small charge.

How rugs are cleaned

There are many steps taken prior to cleaning. Most rugs are “dusted” mechanically or by using pressurized air. Once dusted, the rug is cleaned with fresh water and cleaning agents made specifically for the rugs fiber content. For example, we do not use the same detergents on synthetic rugs as we do on wool, or silk, or viscose rugs.

A rug is laid down flat on our wash floor while copious amounts of water run under and over it while it is lightly agitated and squeegeed until the water coming out of the rug is completely clear. High-pressure water is used to clean fringes, blasting out dirt and soiling in fringe knots and tassels.

Once the rug is clean, water is extracted mechanically through a centrifuge, then the rug is dried flat or hung after being groomed. Many rugs are dry within hours.

When fully dry, rugs are inspected and vacuumed and wrapped for delivery. Most of the year we have a one-to two-week turnaround time. Additional time is needed if repairs are being done.

Rugs that “bleed” are managed, and we have the capability to remove pre-existing color run whether on fringes or on the rug pile.

This “bleeding” is why many companies are afraid to clean handmade rugs. If you’ve been told that your rug cannot be cleaned because it is a “bleeder” you’ve found the right company. We have the experience and knowledge to clean any rug, even the “bleeders.”
